The more than 30-year tradition of the FLYERS Afterschool program offers children attending elementary schools in the Fort Mill School District (FMSD) with the safest and highest quality afterschool care possible. FLYERS Afterschool takes place in the 11 FMSD elementary schools, and each site provides children with ample opportunity for free play, physical activity, creativity, science and nature activities, as well as character development among peers. The program also provides time for each child to complete their homework, within reason, and encourages good time management and accountability. We strive to employ staff that are excited about being with the program’s children each day and look forward to being a positive role model in their lives.

The FLYERS program is operated by Leroy Springs & Company, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides affordable, quality recreation, education and community activities and facilities in York, Lancaster and Chester counties. Leroy Springs & Co. (LSC) owns and operates the Anne Springs Close Greenway, FLYERS Afterschool, Springmaid Mountain and Springs Golf. LSC has a more than 80-year commitment to the communities we serve, providing affordable recreation and education opportunities to all ages.

By utilizing LSC facilities including the Anne Springs Close Greenway, the FLYERS Program offers children a unique opportunity to spend more time outside in nature and discover the importance that the natural world has on our wellbeing. Our Fit Kids program focuses on getting children up and active and making healthy choices and encouraging the development and practice of large motor skills. Our planned site activities, facilitated by our FLYERS Afterschool teachers, focus on monthly and seasonal themes. While we are not primarily an education-focused program, we do utilize any opportunity to introduce learning concepts while having fun. Fostering a child’s sense of discovery and inquiry increases their sense of confidence and their ability to adapt to and master new challenges.
